Welcome to our independendent guide to Oxnard, California written by people who live here.
About Our City
Oxnard is named after Henry T. Oxnard, the man who developed the first major industry here, a sugar beet factory in the 1890's. Oxnard California is the largest city in Ventura County and has grown considerably since being incorporated in 1903. The beauty of miles of agriculture is balanced perfectly with the white sandy beaches which border Oxnard's coastline. Oxnard beaches have beautiful sunsets, sand dunes, and world class surf which provide a great setting for other activities such as swimming, kayaking, biking or just taking in the warm sun.
Many new shopping areas have also been developed, and downtown Oxnard has been enhanced with the relocation of extravagantly refurbished, historic houses. Come discover Oxnard’s exceptional coastal setting and hometown charm. Don’t miss our local theatre groups, ballets, community concerts, and fantastic symphony performances. Oxnard boasts several important museums and the city is also a departure point for the Channel Islands National Park. Come stay at one of the many vacation rentals or at one of Oxnard's prominent hotels.
Visit our great city and tell everybody, you read it here first. SEE YA IN OXNARD!
